CMS Releases Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule for 2019

The proposed rule for the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule was released this month and includes proposed payment rates and changes to the quality payment program for 2019.  NAEC has prepared a summary of the major proposals affecting payment and charts showing relative value unit and payment changes for the major epilepsy center procedural and surgical services and evaluation and management (E/M) services.  CMS is proposing major changes to reporting E/M services, which negatively impacts multiple medical specialties that provide higher level E/M services, including neurology.  NAEC will be responding to this rule on behalf of its members.

Note: NAEC has updated its chart for the proposed Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for 2019 to add new codes for the programming of brain stimulators (RNS and DBS).
